Director of Communications - April 07, 2022

Artemis Gold Inc., listed on the TSX Venture exchange, is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is the recently acquired Blackwater Gold Project in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to join an entrepreneurial organization with strong financials and depth of experience that is focused on technical excellence without the bureaucracy of larger firms. Blackwater is an advanced-stage development project which received its environmental assessment approvals in 2019 and is proceeding towards permitting, with the goal of commencing construction in 2022. The Company published a Feasibility Study in September 2021 which reflects a 22 year mine life, a low strip ratio of 2:1 and a net present value of C$2.15B at a long-term consensus gold price of US$1,600/oz.

Director of Communications will report to the SVP Corporate Affairs and will be based out of our Vancouver office.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the firm leadership to identify emerging internal communication needs, innovating and adapting accordingly
  • Recommend and deliver thoughtful executive communications to support the company’s programs and initiatives that drive employee engagement
  • Actively consult and collaborate with colleagues across the business to solve communications challenges and align with priorities
  • Proactively bring new ideas to the table and share best practices
  • Provide overall strategic communications support for firm leadership through multi-channel communications, including executive messages, town halls, videos, etc.
  • Develop the corporate communications plan
  • Roll out and launch of new corporate brand and brand identity
  • Prepare employee newsletters and engagement initiatives
  • Assist with the planning of investor events including site tours, analyst day & the AGM
  • Lead the production of the Annual report, Sustainability report, oversee sections of the MD&A
  • Manage and update the company website on a regular basis
  • Social media strategy and integration – Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter
  • Develop and implement the internal communications strategy to connect employees across the company with corporate headquarters
  • Corporate video production and script development for a variety of different video projects including project initiatives and mining education
  • Develop and create external marketing material; including advertisements (industry publications, newspapers etc.), brochures, posters and factsheets
  • Crisis Communications lead contact and corporate spokesperson to media
  • Content contributor and editor for monthly or quarterly employee magazine
  • Drafting & disseminating news releases, annual reports, company brochures, PowerPoint presentations, conference call scripts, announcements, speaking notes and drafting of various writing assignments including abstracts for industry awards & nominations

Qualifications

  • A communications professional, with 10+ years of experience leading communications in large and/or matrix organizations
  • Experience working directly with C-suite on firmwide communications plans
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field; Master’s Degree is an asset
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills with exceptional oral and written delivery
  • Ability to deliver complex messages in a simplified and engaging manner to various audiences
  • Excellent negotiation, project management and consulting skills to balance multiple priorities and stakeholder expectations / business demands
  • Demonstrated business and executive acumen with ability to work with numerous stakeholders to achieve objectives
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the professional service environment is a significant asset; experience in a highly matrixed organization is an asset
  • A proven aptitude for initiative and innovation with a strategic and creative mindset to foster a culture of innovation and experimentation to create value.
  • A positive, solution-oriented approach with an ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Self-directed, with an eagerness to excel
  • Proven experience and ability to lead, manage, motivate and mobilize a high performing team, including in a virtual environment
