Indigenous Community Liaison - September 14, 2022

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current project is the recently acquired Blackwater Gold Project in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to join an entrepreneurial organization with strong financials and depth of experience that is focused on technical excellence without the bureaucracy of larger firms. Blackwater is an advanced-stage mine development project which received its environmental assessment approvals in 2019 and is proceeding towards permitting, with the goal of commencing construction in 2022.

Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous and Community Relations, this full-time and permanent position will facilitate communication with the Lhoosk’uz Dene Nation (LDN) and Ulkatcho First Nation (UFN)..

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between BW Gold and LDN/UFN.
  • Maintain mutually beneficial relations with LDN/UFN more generally.
  • Coordinate communications initiatives with LDN/UFN.
  • Identify & assess the needs and capabilities of the Indigenous communities and how BW Gold can support them to build a mutually beneficial relationship.
  • Support the development and implementation of an Indigenous recruitment and training strategy.
  • Promote collaborative partnerships to enhance LDN/UFN with personal development and job readiness skills.
  • Communicate to Indigenous community members about employment and contracting opportunities.
  • Liaise with Indigenous entrepreneurs and identify possible business development resources.
  • Research funding sources to further education/training opportunities.
  • Promote Indigenous cultural awareness within BW Gold.
  • Coordinate information sessions in Indigenous communities.
  • Ensure the Project management team is aware of issues that may affect project activity.
  • Participate in Corporate Social Responsibility activities related to LDN/UFN.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to ensure that Indigenous Traditional Knowledge is considered during the site development and design processes.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high level of integrity and personal accountability.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement, ability to deal with complex and sensitive issue.
  • Team player with highly developed communication and strong relationship building skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support on cultural context and protocols.
  • Experience building partnerships and working with Indigenous businesses, community members, governments, and organizations would be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Must be comfortable working virtually from a home office or other remote work locations
  • Intermediate level computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint is required.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
